Scan Network

myIPs system provides a Network scanning function to assist the Network Administrator in discovering existing IP Addresses for any location.

Instruction Steps:

  • Choose an Area
  • Select a state for Regional LAN format
  • Choose a City
  • Choose a Workgroup for Regional LAN format or type a Segment number for Divisional LAN format
  • Choose the type of equipment you want to discover (base on the IP Address range defined in IP Address Settings).

myIPs will scan the IP Addresses which are in the chosen range.

For a scan range which is more than 30 IP Addresses, which may take some time, myIPs give you the choice of proceeding or stopping the scan.

For a large scan, myIPs gives you a range for you to start the scanning. Click Start button to start the scanning.

When scanning is in progress, you will see the increment in the value of the IP Address. At the Hostname label, "Scanning..." will be displayed. You can press the Stop button to the terminate the scanning operation.

You are given a choice to proceed the scanning operation or to terminate scanning for every 30 IP Address.

When myIPs finds a used IP Address, a dialog box will be display. Click on 'Detail Info...' to obtain further information on the device/equipment and user of the IP Address (eg: Hostname, Workgroup, LAN ID and MAC Address).

By clicking OK button, myIPs will enter the Hostname and MAC Address information into the Remarks field while the LAN ID information will be entered into the Staff No. and LAN ID fields.

You can also enter additional info (eg: Equipment and Project) for the IP Address user. You are also advised to enter other details fo the user such as Username, Staff #, LAN ID, Unit/Division and user full address by clicking 'User Details' tab. Choose Unit/Division from the list in the database or click the picture to add new Unit/Division.
