What is myIPs?
myIPs is a software that can automate assignment of IP Address and hostname based on a given location. myIPs is also capable of scanning for network devices (such as computers, printers, servers, routers, etc) and obtaining information about the devices such as hostname, LAN ID and MAC Address (ethernet Address).
Why should I use myIPs software?
If you are a Network Administrator working in a heterogeneous network using static IP Addresses, you should have a complete Static IP Address Management system to assign and maintain IP Addresses and hostnames within your IP network.
Why I cannot install myIPs software?
myIPs installation uses the latest installation technology from Microsoft. If you cannot install myIPs software and obtain the error message :
"Cannot use command file myIPs.msi. Windows does not have a program associated to run with it."
OR
"This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service. You must install a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service."

Windows 9x/ME or
Windows NT/2000 from microsoft site. myIPs also requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 sp2 or greater.
I install myIPs and I am told I have invalid data components (MDAC TYPE).

When I try to login, I get a "Provider cannot be found. Runtime error 3706 : Application defined or object defined error" message. What does that mean?
It means you're missing a software component necessary for opening myIPs software. The latest Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC-TYPE.EXE) version no longer includes the necessary component. You will need to download the Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 3, from Microsoft site, and install it. You can also download and install the latest Service Pack after that.
When installing myIPs I get an "Error 1931: The windows installer service cannot update the system file because the file is protected by Windows. You may need to update your operating system for this program to work correctly". Why is this?
Windows NT and Windows 2000 protect some of the system files; as a result Windows Installer can not overwrite these files. Simply click the OK button and let the installer proceed without overwriting the file. myIPs should run normally when the installation is finished.
When installing myIPs I get an "Error 1904 Module C:\Program Files\myIPs\msado26.tlb failed to register. HRESULT -2147024769. Contact your support personnel". What should I do?
This problem happened when other programs, including memory-resident and anti-virus programs, are running and using any version of the file. In most situations, you can safely click Continue button and let myIPs software finishes installation.
When trying to run myIPs software you see an error message like this: "Component "MSINET.OCX" or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid".. What should I do?
This problem happened when MSINET.OCX component is not installed.
1. Download Msinet.zip
2. Unzip msinet.zip and copy msinet.ocx into your Windows\System directory (Winnt\System32 in NT, 2000 and XP)
3. Click Start and then click Run
4. In the Open box, type regsvr32.exe msinet.ocx to register the file.
What is Trial Login ID & Password?
Your Trial Login ID is 'admin' and Password also 'admin'.
I cannot open myIPs help file. When you try to start myIPs Help, you get an error box saying: "HTML Help error! Please contact your program vendor".
The Help Viewer requires that Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 3.02 or later) be set up on a user's computer. To set up your computer so that you can view myIPs Help, you must perform the following steps:
- Install Internet Explorer 3.02 or above on the computer.
- Download hhupd.exe from the Microsoft.
- Run hhupd.exe. Hhupd.exe installs the required run-time components.
- Open and view myIPs Help.

Your license is limited to 500 IP Address assignment only.
What is Unlimited* Nodes/Hosts?
Your can assign for unlimited* nodes/hosts. Since myIPs software using Microsoft Access as back-end database, there is a limitation to Ms Access (1 GB per database).
How many Nodes/Hosts can be stored in 1 GB of MS-Access database?
The estimatation is 1MB equals to 5,000 Nodes/Hosts. Therefore 1 GB of MS-Access database can store up to 5,000,000 Nodes/Hosts.
What is myIPs Master Software and Network User Software?
myIPs Master Software contains myIPs application and myIPs database while myIPs Network User software does not include myIPs database. If you are a Network Administrator and your company does not have myIPs installed, you should use myIPs Master software. If you want to distribute IP Address assignment to your colleague, then they should use myIPs Network User software and map to your database.
What do I get by registering my copy of myIPs?
An unregistered version of myIPs is limited to assignment of only 25 IP Addresses for a duration of 21 days. The registered version is limited by license purchased and will not expire after the 21-day trial period.
