IP Address Settings
Before assigning an IP Address, you are required to enter the settings for the IP Address for all
the locations in your network. IP Address settings is divided into 5 main categories:
- Area
- State
- City
- Workgroup
- Equipment
Area Setting

Area setting in myIPs software is divided into 2 section that is Divisional LAN
format and Regional LAN format. Divisional LAN format is the designed for a large LAN with a number of segments.
Usually LAN for a multi-storey building. This Divisional LAN format is suitable for your existing network setup.Regional LAN
format is you LAN for a small location or building.

Note:
You can enter the same IP Octet 1 to represents different areas.
State Settings.

State setting is used for Regional LAN naming convention. You can choose to add, update
and delete state records.

City Settings.

City setting
represents the second and third IP Octet. For Divisional LAN,
city setting represents the second IP Octet, whereas for Regional
LAN, city setting represents the second IP Octet and also the
offset for the third IP Octet.

for the third IP Octet is predefined format to avoid IP
Address duplication and to standardise the IP Address
setting for your network. This offset value can be
entered only by increment of 10 (eg: 10,20,30,...). This
offset value combined with the value of your workgroup
setting will give your third IP Octet. |
| IP Octet 3 |
For Divisional LAN format
only. You can set to fix the value for Octet1 & octet
2 and vary the value for Octet 3 to represent a city. (especially
for small/medium network which does not require
additional segment). It is recommended to leave Octet 3
as blank and use Octet1.octet2.xxx.yyy to represent a
city especially for huge network. |
Instruction steps:
- Click area to
choose from a list of current sites.
- Choose state
if network is in Regional LAN format.
- Click the Add
button to add information on city setting, or
- Select name
of city from a list of current cities before any update
or delete record can be made.
- You can
update city name, city code, IP Octet 2 value and Offset
value.
Note :
You are only encouraged to use the Regional LAN format for any
new assignment of IP Address scheme in your network. For existing
IP Address scheme, please use the Divisional LAN format which
does not require you to define the workgroup or offset.
Workgroup
Settings.

Workgroup
setting is available only for Regional LAN format. The workgroup
setting together with city setting represents the third IP Octet.

Equipment
